4. **Staining**: After the floor is sanded and cleaned, it's ready for staining. The stain is applied evenly to the floor using a brush or a rag. After the stain is applied, it's allowed to penetrate the wood for a specified period of time (usually 10-15 minutes), then any excess stain is wiped off. The stain colors the wood, but it doesn't protect it.

5. **Sealing**: Once the stain is dry, a finish is applied to seal the wood and protect it from damage. This is usually a polyurethane finish, which can be either water-based or oil-based. The finish is applied in thin layers, and each layer must dry completely before the next is applied. It's also important to lightly sand between each coat to ensure a smooth finish.

6. **Curing**: The final step is allowing the floor to cure, or harden. This usually takes a few days, but it can take longer in humid conditions. During this time, it's important to avoid walking on the floor or placing any furniture on it.~
